A high quality practice manager and medical secretary is essential to the development of a successful private practice. Prior to 2005 I had a modest practice that had been managed by a succession of very good secretaries, however none had taken any great interest in developing my work. In 2005 I had the good fortune to come across Sue Wilcox who over a number of years has worked diligently to transform my private work and create one of the largest ENT practices in the Midlands. Initially Sue took over my practice as part of a group of four Consultant ENT surgeons, of whom I was a consultant partner. When the group broke up in May 2011 I persuaded Sue to stay on and work for me and with her guidance formed the "Birmingham Ear Clinic". Sue has worked as my practice manager and secretary ever since.

During the time I have known her, Sue has demonstrated excellent organisational and logistical skills and has shown great ability in organising and managing my work. Patients frequently pass compliments to me on the quality of her work. She has a particularly kind and approachable nature with my patients and I know that I can rely upon her totally to deliver excellent customer service to the people who attend our Clinic. She is intelligent and resourceful and I am confident of her ability to handle the day-to-day running of my practice and to involve me only when she needs to.

Sue has an extremely good knowledge of the private medical insurance companies, which enables her to liaise effectively with them. She is able to pre-authorise complex surgical procedures, often involving multiple surgeons and out-of-network hospitals. Her knowledge of the Schedule of Procedures of the various insurance companies has enabled her to secure favourable fees for me for my operative cases. Sue also handles all of my invoicing and ensures that I am paid.

Sue also wrote most of the content for my website herself and, in conjunction with professional web designers, designed the structure and look of the site. She has also written promotional literature for the Clinic, which has been most successful, and she designed our letterheads and business cards.

I have no hesitation in recommending Sue as an extremely capable and efficient private practice secretary and manager.

My medico-legal practice has largely been developed and promoted by Sue since she took over as my medico-legal secretary and practice manager in 2005. She handles all of my practice administration, including the negotiation of my professional report fees with solicitors and medico-legal reporting companies. In addition, she organises my work, liaises with our patients, types my medical reports and correspondence, and ensures that I am paid.

She also promotes and develops my medico-legal practice and is able to convert preliminary enquires about my service into instructions and forge relationships on my behalf with solicitors and reporting companies.

Sue has a detailed knowledge of the CPR requirements for the structure of a medico-legal report, as well as those of the major medico-legal reporting companies. This enables her to ensure that my reports are CPR-compliant and avoids rejection of my reports for failure to meet requirements in format or layout. The presentation of her work is of the highest standard.

She is a very experienced medico-legal secretary and has typed many hundreds of reports in a variety of medical and surgical specialties. This knowledge and experience enables Sue to draw to my attention at the edit stage anything that she feels may require my attention or further clarification, which I find of great value.

I am pleased to recommend her services.

I found the Medical Secretariat whilst desperately searching the internet to find a service that would be able to urgently type up some lengthy medico-legal reports that my usual secretary could not cope with.
By good fortune, I found the Medical Secretariat website. From the moment that I sent the first enquiry. I received exactly the assistance that I needed. The service was prompt and efficient.
As importantly, it was clear that I had found an agency that knew what was needed and how matters should be handled. My approach was for a limited amount of work but everything was done quickly, efficiently and to a very high standard. I managed to submit all the outstanding reports in time and in my standard format.

I would recommend the service to anyone looking for secretarial services The help I was given could not be faulted and I would not hesitate to use The Medical Secretariat again in future

Mrs Susan Wilcox was my medico-legal secretary for 8 years from April 2003 until my retirement. During this time she gave me a service of the highest quality, from the point of view that reports were of the highest quality, delivered in the time she promised, and Sue was always available for any questions or changes, which may have been required.

I have no hesitation in giving her the highest recommendation to anyone who would wish to use her secretarial skills in the future.

Mrs Wilcox was my medical secretary for twelve years. Since then she has provided emergency back-up secretarial help whenever work pressures or ill health would have caused serious disruption to my private practice. Her service has always been of the highest possible standard (and truth to tell, I'm a bit of a stickler). She is intelligent, reliable, and responsive. Her work is fast and accurate, and therefore saves time in correcting. In brief, she is totally professional. I recommend her with confidence.

I am certainly very happy to provide a testimonial for Sue with whom I have been working for the best part of 16 years. I could not have had a more efficient and reliable private secretary. She has superb organizational skills, a strong customer focus coupled with the initiative to make life easy for her consultants. She has excellent attention to detail in report writing and can always be relied on to get things right first time.

Sue Wilcox has asked me to provide you with a reference for her. I am very happy to do this.

Throughout my 33 years working in the National Health Service and 17 years working in private practice, I have not come across another secretary who is more efficient or better at her job than Sue Wilcox. Sue is intelligent, hard-working and conscientious. She also uses her own initiative particularly effectively in circumstances when others might hesitate to do so. It goes, almost without saying, that her typing skills and accuracy are excellent.

I have no hesitation in recommending her to you and I am sure that you will be well pleased with any work that she carries out for you.

I am delighted to provide this testimonial for Mrs Wilcox. She worked for me in the capacity of self-employed medical secretary for more than 10 years. During that time the near flawless quality of her work and the speed with which she was able to provide it impressed me greatly.

Although at the time she did not have an extensive background in orthopaedic terminology, she very quickly acquired the necessary vocabulary, and from the first always took pains to look up technical words so that her typing of medical reports and letters rarely needed correction.

Mrs Wilcox also takes trouble to think about what she types as she goes along and usually picks up any inconsistencies or errors in my dictation so that she can correct them and bring them to my attention.

Mrs Wilcox really is an exceptionally diligent and able medical secretary and I have no hesitation at all in recommending her. I feel sure her capabilities would encompass many specialised fields other than orthopaedics and trauma.

Sue Wilcox worked as my private secretary for almost 10 years. She is an excellent example of a true medical secretary, who also has a flair and ability for running a private practice. She combines calm efficiency with excellent secretarial skills and the ability to use her initiative. She has an excellent manner with patients.

I have no hesitation in recommending her most highly as a private medical secretary.

What a treat to receive your message with every bit of detail that we needed, in plenty of time ahead of the case and with comfort of knowing that you had actioned all other necessary points to bring everything together. It gives us real confidence that things are much more likely to run smoothly – good for us, good for the surgeon and no doubt good for the patient too. These days where everyone is so very busy, it's often all we can do to get accurate information, let alone anything comprehensive and timely.
We deal with a broad cross section of businesses and healthcare professionals and pride ourselves on first rate communication; rarely do we see it reciprocated as you have done.

Thank you so much for your help.
